Twilight
New Moon Saga has overwhelmed estimations and has sold 4 million twilight
dvd copies on its first weekend, said Summit Entertainment last week.
The figure surpassed the 3.8 million during the first weekend of the original
Twilight’s DVD sales, which eventually reached 9.2 million in 2008 – the top
selling DVD in 2008.
The Los Angeles Times commented:
“Given the 13 percent decline in U.S. DVD revenue last year, gaining any
ground is something of a victory.”
Secrets of the 'New Moon' DVD: Stephenie Meyer on Taylor Lautner's
Chippendales abs

The DVD of "New
Moon," the latest edition of "The Twilight Saga," has been
out for a couple of weeks, giving Twihards plenty of time to scope it out. The
DVD features a pretty interesting making-of documentary, but the commentary is
on the light side. One of the delights of the "Twilight" DVD
commentary – Robert Pattinson's self-deprecating, silly humor, and giggle fits
– is sorely missed on this one.
Director Chris Weitz and editor Peter Lambert are fine, but their star power
isn't exactly off the charts, as they'd probably admit.
My favorite tidbits: Weitz noting that some people thinks Bella "screams
like a stuck pig" in her missing-Edward angst; the fictional action flick
Bella, Mike and Jacob go see is titled "Face Punch," because
practically every other dumb action title had already been used; and the scene
where Taylor Lautner removes his shirt to display his spectacular six-pack used
to be a wider-angle shot, held longer. They shortened it, and went to a tighter
shot, Weitz says, because "Twilight"
author Stephenie Meyer dismissed the first version as Jacob's "Chippendales
audition."
MovieShame.
There have always been lots of movies that show or exploit sex, but far fewer
that try to explore it seriously, as a rich, meaningful subject, whether
psychological or social...
