BANKSY: 'PARIS WON'T GET IT'
found at contactmusic.com
LATEST: PARIS HILTON's pop debut saboteur BANKSY has defended his CD prank, insisting the heiress is too stupid to understand his joke.
The remix was removed from the internet due to complaints of the
"actress".
The guerrilla graffiti artist smuggled 500 doctored copies of Hilton's debut disc in to music stores around Britain.
The fake CDs see Hilton's sugary pop overwritten by new beats, while the album artwork has been altered so that Hilton's face is replaced by her dog and the track listing reads as a series of inane questions, including, "Why am I famous?" Now the artist, whose identity is a closely guarded secret, has explained his motives through spokeswoman JO BROOKS.
She says, "He's saying you can be a celebrity, but you don't have to do music. "I don't know what the reaction will be in America or whether she would even get it."
However, the spray-can renegade's stunt could backfire.
A spokesman for music giant HMV says, "The publicity might actually help her sell some more records." Banksy's bogus CD marks the latest in a long line of high-profile stunts including illegally exhibiting his own work at the prestigious Tate Britain gallery in 2003 and risking snipers to paint part of Israel's security wall around the West Bank, last year (05).

Doctored Banksy Paris Hilton CDs hit eBay
Bidding up to £300
Will Head, vnunet.com 04 Sep 2006 found at vnunet.com
Controversial artist Banksy has targeted Paris Hilton with his latest stunt.
The Bristol born artist, famous for his distinctive graffiti artwork, tampered with 500 copies of Hilton's debut album in 48 record stores across the UK.
Banksy replaced the official CD with his own remixes, giving the tracks titles such as Why am I Famous?, What Have I Done? and What Am I For?.
The CD artwork was also doctored to show Hilton 'topless' on the album sleeve and with a dog's head in other images.
The tampered CDs still retained the original barcode and were purchased by unwitting customers.
Obviously considered artwork by some, the altered CDs have now appeared on eBay.
One auction, by seller 'thiethooitbeg', hit £298 before the listing was cancelled by the auction site because it "contravened eBay regulations". The relisted item is currently selling for £97.
Another listing by 'loveishell2005' with a starting price of £200 is currently selling for £205.

Paris Hilton’s popularity is finally waning and she
is being turned away from the best parties as she slowly slides
down the celeb-o-meter.
The tide started to turn against Paris with the release of her
debut album ‘Paris’; after renegade British artist Banksy made
a mockery of her album cover in some UK record stores she became a
laughing stock.
After failing to get into Bungalow 8 and crying on the street
about it Paris was then arrested for a DUI last week…tut tut.
On Friday, according to PageSix.com, Paris failed to gain
entrance to Ian Schrager's Gramercy Park Hotel where the likes of
Orlando Bloom and Winona Ryder were kicking back.
The doorman refused to let Paris enter after he was warned by
his boss to bar "the likes of Paris Hilton and her ilk” who
“are not welcome here."
Now there’s a man who know how to separate the stars from the
slebs.
