Floris Kaayk recently won the Kunstbeeld ArtOlive Award 2006 for his
film Metalosis Maligna
Metalosis Maligna is a fictitious documentary about a spectacular yet
chronically disabling disease which affects patients who have been fitted with
medical implants. Sourcing from such implants a wild metal growth ultimately
transforms human patients into mechanical looking constructions.

'rods' as being the bacteria...SO WRONG! if this is the bacteria they should
be spherical shaped;thus the suffix 'coccus'
Born in Tiel, the Netherlands (NL), on 1 September 1982
After finishing the Grafisch Lyceum high school in Utrecht Floris Kaayk embarked
on a course of study at St. Joost Academy of Art and Design in Breda. Choosing
animation as a main subject Floris specialised in blending computer generated
images with live-action video to present his ideas.
His recently completed production Metalosis Maligna not only allowed him to
attain top grades at St Joost but also ensured him of some awards and
publications in Dutch magazines.
Floris Kaayks previous production The Order Electrus (2005) has gained
distinctions at the Netherlands Film Festival (Talent & Pro Award), the
International Animation & Cartoon Festival Sicaf at Seoul in Korea (Best
Student Prize), has been broadcast on Dutch public television and was invited
for screenings at many other prominent cultural events
